One problem with the use of frames is that the visitor who followed an external link to some of the thousands of pages, when opened it was faced only with the "core" and was missing the left menu. To remedy this drawback I inserted within the whole site that suggestion "if you're not seeing the left navbar click here". That welcome page will be unnecessary when all that internal redirection links were removed, but it will need months of tough work. So I count on your understanding.
